Born in 1834 on the Missouri below Williston, North Dakota. He was only thirteen years of age when he first went to war, and on this and on the next two occasions he gained no honrs. On his fourt war excursion he was more successful, alone capturing six horses of the Yanktonai. While engaged in a fight with the Atsina near Fort Belkap, Montana,he killed a man and a boy. In a battle with the Yanktonai he killed one oof the enemy, and in another repeated the former success. Black Eagle led war-parties three times.
